"Water Therapy" for Beauty and Health

I believe in the power of water for almost anything that effects our body. Water not only should be used to cleanse our outside but also our inside as well. GOD granted us an abundance of this miracle to life and it is my true belief that is IS the fountain to youth. As an Esthetician, I have pushed for my clients to drink water for their skin problems and as an added aid to their facial treatments. If you have been a client of mine then I have talked to you about consuming plenty of water. Alot of my clients tell me I should also be in the business of selling water HA I considered it .. believe me! =)

Alot of the dark circles and lines that form under the eye are signs of dehydration. Alot of skin issues such as "breaking out" are a sign of dehydration and lack of exfoliation. Skin that looks dull/sluggish and doesn't have the "spring back" or elasticity that normal healthy skin has is also a sign of dehydration. Even oily skin has a lot to do with dehydration because its the bodies way of taking care of the outter and inner layers for lack of moisture. So people run out and buy products to deplete the oil making their skin even more dry. When all they really need to do is drink water!

Your body tells you that you're thirsty but it doesn't know how to tell you that its water it needs. You have to show it! Your body will except anything liquid and interperate that as moisture it lacks. However, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol all have a drying effect on the skin and vital organs causing them to be more dehydrated.

So in conclusion: Make water a part of your daily routine to youth and health. Be good to your body and it will take care of you in return. Below is an article I ran across that talks about possible cures to many of our ailments. I see some that I want to try out and I hope you will too.

Water Therapy
(Drink 1 1/2 litres of water each day)

"Water Therapy" e-mail and I was curious to know who wrote it. I did a search and found it just as it appears below, but the source was unknown. However, the Sanskrit name of the water treatment given in the article leads me to believe it has its source in Ayur-Veda, the traditional medical science of India. (The name given is "Usha (dawn or early morning) Paana (drink or in this case, water) Chikitsa (treatment).

Interestingly, my internet search also revealed a somewhat similar modern water therapy put forth by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj who has conducted research and written two books on the subject. I will include some of the information about him, his books, and his research at the end of this e-mail. So read on and see what you think. ----- David

Filtered water - hands down, this is what you should go with. Get a filtration system installed in your home, or buy a simple filter pitcher. This way you don't spend a lot on water, and you are guaranteed the safety of it. Keep plenty of refillable bottles around so you can take them with you. You might want to keep a quart bottle in the fridge that you can take and carry around the house with you.

How does pure water act?

Consuming ordinary drinking water by the right method purifies human body. It renders the colon more effective by forming new fresh blood, known in medical terms as Haematopaises. That the mucousal folds of the colon and intestines are activated by this method, is an undisputed fact, just as the theory that new fresh blood is produced by the mucousal fold.

If the colon is cleaned then the nutrients of the food taken several times a day will be absorbed and by the action of the mucousal folds they are turned into fresh blood.

The blood is all important in curing ailments and restoring health, and for this water should be consumed in a regular pattern.

How to do this water therapy?

1) Early morning after you get up from bed (without even brushing your teeth) drink 1.50 litres of water i.e., 5 to 6 glasses. Better to premeasure 1.50 litres of water. Let us all know that our ancestors termed this therapy as "Usha Paana Chikitsa".

2) Here it is very essential to note that nothing else - neither drinks nor solid food of any sort - should be taken within 1 hour before and after drinking this 1.50 litres of water.

3) It is also to be strictly observed that no Alcoholic drinks should be taken the previous night.

4) If required, boiled and filtered water may be used for this purpose.

Is it possible to drink 1.50 litres of water at one time?

1) To begin with, one may find it difficult to drink 1.50 litres of water at one time, but one will get used to it gradually.

Initially, while practising you may drink four glasses first and the balance two glasses after a gap of two minutes.

Initially you may find the necessity to urinate 2 to 3 times within an hour, but it will become normal after sometime.

By research and experience, the following diseases are observed to be cured with this therapy within the indicated days as below

Constipation 1 day

Acidity 2 days

Diabetes 7 days

BP & Hypertension 4 weeks

Cancer 4 weeks

Pulmonary TB 3 months

It is advised that persons suffering from Arthritis or Rheumatism should practise this therapy thrice a day, i.e., morning, midday and night, 1 hour before meals - for one week; and twice a day subsequently till the disease is cured.

Modern Research

Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D. is a formally trained medical doctor who received his medical education and training at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School of London University. He has spent most of his scientific life researching the link between pain and disease and chronic dehydration.

Dr. Batmanghelidj discovered the healing powers of water 17 years ago when he was serving time as a political prisoner in an Iranian jail. He successfully treated 3,000 fellow prisoners suffering from stress induced peptic ulcer disease with the only medication he possessed water. This is when he understood for the first time in medical history that the body indicates its water shortage by producing pain.

Since his prison experience, he has focused his full time attention on dehydration produced health problems in the body. His discovery has helped hundreds of thousands of people suffering from a variety of pains and degenerative diseases regain their health.

Dr. Batmanghelidj has presented his findings at several international and world conferences, and they have been published and peer reviewed in a number of scientific journals. His findings are now available to the public in an easy to understand form in his two books, Your Body's Many Cries for Water, and How to Deal with Back Pain and Rheumatoid Joint Pain, and his video on back pain and audio tape of his lectures. These health education materials have been peer and media reviewed and acclaimed both nationally and internationally.

"Your Body's Many Cries for Water"
new book by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj

Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, 66, was trained at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London. His extensive clinical and scientific research shows how the body naturally generates different thirst signals, but that these can be mistaken for symptoms and signs of illness. Recognizing them for what they are, he says, means that we can enjoy better health and avoid costly mistakes.

"Since the water we drink provides for cell function and its volume requirements, the decrease in our daily water intake affects the efficiency of cell activity. (...) As a result, chronic dehydration causes symptoms that equal disease when the variety of emergency signals of dehydration are not understood." (p.14)

"The human body has a major problem with its normal water regulation, caused by a gradual loss of thirst sensation. This problem is confronted often enough in clinical practice that it does not need explanation. However, The Lancet editorial of 3 November 1984 and the 20 September 1984 article by Paddy Phillips [should] remove any doubt on the issue." (p.140)

"Humans seems to lose their thirst sensation and the critical perception of needing water. Not recognizing their need for water, they gradually become increasingly and chronically dehydrated with the progress of age. Further confusion lies in the idea that when we're thirsty, we can substitute tea, coffee, or alcohol containing beverages. This is a common error." (p.14)

"Not recognizing the thirst signals of the body will undoubtedly produce complicated problems in the present way of treatment of these conditions. It is all too easy to assume these signals are complications of a serious disease process and begin to treat signal producing dehydration with complicated procedures. Although water by itself will alleviate the condition, medications or invasive diagnostic procedures may be forced on the person. It is the responsibility of both patients and their doctors to be aware of the damage that chronic dehydration can cause in the human body." (p.18)

"These chronic pains include dyspeptic pain, rheumatoid arthritis pain, angina pain (heart pain on walking, or even at rest), migraine and hangover headaches, colitis pain and its associated constipation. The "view shift" dictates that all these pains should be treated with a regular adjustment to daily water intake. No less than two and a half quarts (two and one half litres) in 24 hours should be taken for a few days prior to the routine and regular use of analgesics or other pain relieving medications." (p.19)

"If the problem has persisted for many years, those who wish to test the pain relieving property of water should make sure their kidneys can make sufficient urine so that they do not retain too much water in the body. Urine output should be measured against water intake. With an increase in water intake, the urine output should also increase." (p.19)

How much water?
"Your body needs an absolute minimum of six 8 ounce glasses of water a day. [ 8 ounces is equivalent to app. 2,25 deciliter ] Alcohol, coffee, tea, and caffeine containing beverages don't count as water. The best times to drink water (clinically observed in peptic ulcer disease) are: one glass one half hour before taking food breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a similar amount two and one half hours after each meal. This is the very minimum amount of water your body needs. For the sake of not shortchanging your body, two more glasses of water should be taken around the heaviest meal or before going to bed. Thirst should be satisfied at all times. With increase in water intake, the thirst mechanism becomes more efficient. Your body might then ask you to drink more than the above minimum. Adjusting water intake to mealtimes prevents the blood from becoming concentrated as a result of food intake. When the blood becomes concentrated, it draws water from the cells around it. Water is the cheapest form of medicine to a dehydrated body. (...) There is more natural magic in a glass of water than any medication you are brainwashed to use for the treatment of the conditions

Cure # 1: Water prevents and cures heartburn. Heartburn is a signal of water shortage in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a major thirst signal of the human body. The use of antacids or tablet medications in the treatment of this pain does not correct dehydration, and the body continues to suffer as a result of its water shortage. Tragedy: Not recognizing heartburn as a sign of dehydration and treating it with antacids and pill medications will, in time, produce inflammation of the stomach, duodenum, hiatal hernia, ulceration, and eventually cancers in the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver and pancreas.

Cure # 2: Water prevents and cures arthritis. Rheumatoid Joint Pain Arthritis is a signal of water shortage in the painful joint. It can affect the young as well as the old. The use of painkillers does not cure the problem, but exposes the person to further damage from pain medications. Intake of water and small amounts of salt will cure this problem.

Cure # 3: Water prevents and cures back pain. Low Back Pain and Ankylosing Arthritis of the Spine are signs of water shortage in the spinal column and discs the water cushions that support the weight of the body. These conditions should be treated with increased water intake - not a commercial treatment, but a very effective one. Tragedy: Not recognizing arthritis and low back pain as signs of dehydration in the joint cavities and treating them with painkillers, manipulation, acupuncture, and eventually surgery will, in time, produce osteoarthritis when the cartilage cells in the joints have eventually all died. It will produce deformity of the spine. It will produce crippling deformities of the limbs. Pain medications have their own life threatening complications.

Cure # 4: Water prevents and cures angina. Heart Pain Angina is a sign of water shortage in the heart/lung axis. It should be treated with increased water intake until the patient is free of pain and independent of medications. Medical supervision is prudent. However, increased water intake is angina's cure.

Cure # 5: Water prevents and cures migraines. Migraine Headache is a sign of water need by the brain and the eyes. It will totally clear up by preventing dehydration from establishing in the body. This particular type of dehydration might eventually cause inflammation of the back of the eye and possibly loss of eye sight.

Cure #6: Water prevents and cures colitis. Colitis Pain is a signal of water shortage in the large gut. It is associated with constipation because the large intestine constricts to squeeze the last drop of water from the excrements thus the lack of water lubrication. Tragedy: Not recognizing colitis pain as a sign of dehydration will cause persistent constipation. Later in life, it will cause fecal impacting: it can cause diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, polyps, and appreciably increases the possibility of developing cancers of the colon and rectum.

Cure # 7: Water and salt prevents and cures asthma. Asthma, which also affects 12,000,000 children and kills several thousand of them every year, is a complication of dehydration in the body. It is caused by the drought management programs of the body. Free passage of air is obstructed so that water does not leave the body in the form of vapor, the winter steam. Increased water intake will prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatics need also to take more salt to break the mucus plugs in the lungs which obstruct the free flow of air in and out of the air sacs. Tragedy: Not recognizing asthma as the indicator of dehydration in the body of a growing child not only will sentence many thousands of children to die every year, but will permit irreversible genetic damage to establish in the remaining 12,000,000 asthmatic children.

Cure # 8: Water prevents and cures high blood pressure. Hypertension is a state of adaptation of the body to a generalized drought, when there is not enough water to fill all the blood vessels which diffuse water into vital cells. As part of the mechanism of reverse osmosis, when water from the serum is filtered and injected into important cells through minute holes in their membranes, extra pressure is needed for the "injection process." Just as we inject I.V. "water" in hospitals, so the body injects water into tens of trillions of cells all at the same time. Water and some salt intake will bring blood pressure back to normal! Tragedy: Not recognizing hypertension as one of the major indicators of dehydration in the human body, and treating it with diuretics that further dehydrate the body will, in time, cause blockage by cholesterol of the heart arteries and the arteries that go to the brain. It will cause heart attacks, small and/or massive strokes that paralyze. It will eventually cause kidney diseases. It will cause brain damage and neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Cure # 9: Water prevents and cures early adult onset diabetes. Adult Onset Diabetes is another adaptive state to severe dehydration of the human body. To have adequate water in circulation and for the brain's priority water needs, the release of insulin is inhibited to prevent insulin from pushing water into all body cells. In diabetes only some cells get survival rations of water. Water and some salt will reverse adult onset diabetes in its early stages. Tragedy: Not recognizing adult onset diabetes as a complication of dehydration will, in time, cause massive damage to the blood vessels all over the body. It will cause eventual loss of the toes, feet and legs from gangrene. It will cause eye damage, even blindness.

Cure # 10: Water lowers blood cholesterol. High Cholesterol levels are an indicator of early drought management by the body. Cholesterol is a claylike material that is poured in the gaps of some cell membranes to safeguard them from losing their vital water content to the osmotically more powerful blood circulating in their vicinity. Cholesterol, apart from being used to manufacture nerve cell membranes and hormones, is also used as a "shield" against water taxation of other vital cells that would normally exchange water through their cell membranes.

Cure # 11: Water Cures Depression, Loss of Libido, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy. These conditions are caused by prolonged chronic dehydration. They will clear up once the body becomes well and regularly hydrated. In these conditions, exercising one's muscles should be part of the treatment program .

So here's to your health.
